Senior Investiture is one the college’s oldest traditions. Originating hundreds of years ago in English universities, Senior Investiture began at Agnes Scott in 1908, our third year as a four-year college. This ceremony of investiture formally recognizes seniors as campus leaders. Each senior walks individually across the platform to be capped with an academic mortarboard as a symbol of her status. Selection as the Senior Investiture speaker is considered to be one of the highest compliments students can bestow on faculty or staff members.
